Research Focus I am a theoretical physicist working in the field of open quantum systems, quantum information theory, quantum optics, condensed matter systems and mathematical physics. My research interests are directed toward understanding the possibilities and limitations of photonic quantum information processing and devising methods to control the effects of noise therein. This would allow us to realize scalable and universal quantum computing devices. I have developed various methods to perform quantum teleportation in the orbital angular momentum states of a single photon. I have devised implementation schemes to realize one- and multi-dimensional quantum walks using classical optical setup. Currently, I am working on simulating quantum algorithms such as Shor's algorithm using optical systems. I am also working on Quantum memories. A quantum memory is a device which is capable of storing and reemitting a single photon on demand. I am interested in studying the effect of the thermal and phononic bath on the efficiency of the quantum memory which is realized in various systems. |
