Research Focus

Specialized in geomorphology, remote sensing, machine learning and geographic information systems to analyze natural hazards, particularly rainfall induced landslides and post-seismic landslide controls, as well as understanding cascading geological hazards in glacial, river, and coastal settings from local to regional and global scales. Our group is also interested in understanding the sediment and nutrient dynamics in surface water, lake water, and ocean interfaces, employing latest tools and models.

Currently there is a significant gap in appropriate landslide early warning setup in Indian scenario and there is a necessity for developing accurate rainfall I-D thresholds for landslide initiation condition in different geo-environments. There is also a lack of understanding in glacial retreat caused fluvial changes and hillslope processes in the High Mountain Asia. We aims to study the aforementioned issues in detail, and minimize the impact of natural disasters by setting up an integrated framework for hazard mitigation planning.
