An online school on astronomy and astrophysics is being organized by IISER Mohali during May 7-22, 2024. The school is aimed at students who are interested in astronomy and are completing their first year undergraduate studies in sciences or engineering. Topics to be covered include an introduction to astronomical terminology and phenomena. Specifically there will be sessions on the Sun, solar system, orbits, exoplanets, stars, star formation and evolution, inter-stellar medium, galaxies, active galactic nuclei, cosmology, gravitational lensing and gravitational waves. We expect that participants will be able to develop familiarity with the concepts and learn basics of data handling and statistical inference.

The school will have two lectures and one hands-on session every day. Students will require access to a computer for the hands-on session. The schedule of the school is enclosed.
