Development of Renewable and sustainable biorefineries utilizing waste feedstocks: Life Cycle Analysis and techno-economic Assessment
Dr. Geetanjali Yadav
Location : Online
Abstract: The imperative for sustainable and renewable biomass conversion pathways is crucial for the decarbonization of the bioeconomy, given the world's depleting fossil fuel reserves and escalating greenhouse gas emissions. Renewable feedstocks, including algae, various waste biomasses (such as agricultural residues, MSW and woody biomass) present substantial opportunities for research and development. My primary research thrusts involve the development of a biorefinery specifically using waste feedstocks, focusing on the utilization of CO2 and waste organic compounds from the sewage sludge, to generate bioenergy and bioproducts. Since sustainability analysis is key to commercial deployment of any process, therefore, my research inherently involves bioprocess modeling, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment to identify potential cost drivers and environmental hotspots within a biorefining process.
