Abstract: The increase in the world's population has resulted in an increase in various pollutants, which ultimately affect the availability and quality of water. To remediate contaminated water, a numerous chemical and physical treatments are employed; however, these methods are expensive and release waste discharge into the environment. Treatment of wastewater with a biological system offers additional benefits and proves to be less expensive. Microalgae have been identified as natural water cleaner and as a promising candidate for bioremediation of wastewater. Subsequent research endeavors are intended to investigate the efficacy of microalgae strains in eliminating inorganic nutrients from wastewater by cultivating Chlorella vulgaris and other possible microalgae species. In addition, Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) and hydroponic systems are the best options for further research in this area because they are adaptable extreme conditions and promote the healthy growth of organisms. In conclusion, microalgae along with aquaponics offer promising solutions for treating wastewater system. These symbiotic relationship provides a sustainable and cost-effective approach to wastewater treatment and provides benefits for both environmental and agriculture applications and also required to optimize theses system for widespread adoption and enhances its effectiveness towards water pollution challenges.
