Hydrothermal Processing of Hybrid semiconductor Photocatalytic Materials: Characterization and Environmental Application
Dr. Sajan C. P. (Tsinghua University, China)
Location : Online
Abstract: Pollution is a global issue that directly affects the social and economic conditions of the areas where it occurs. The use of solar radiation as a catalyst for the decomposition of pollutants in the atmosphere has generated controversy for many years. On the other hand, solar radiation alone cannot result in the complete mineralization of these pollutants. It requires assistance of certain substance to trigger the reaction called ‘Photocatalysts’. Herein, the processing of hybrid photocatalytic materials such as composites, doped and quantum dots deposited materials synthesized using hydrothermal process will be discussed. These materials will be characterized, and their relevance will be deliberated, using advanced techniques such X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The environmental application of these materials such as the degradation of toxic organic dyes, industrial effluents, CO2 reduction and Hydrogen generation will be conversed.
