COSPAR capacity building workshop on broadband timing and spectral studies with Astrosat, Chandra and XMM-Newton
The workshop focussed on Chandra, XMM-Newton and Astrosat data analysis. The Capacity Building Workshop consisted of tutorials, lectures and hands-on computer sessions. The workshop was held during March 9-20, 2019. The lectures covered Galactic and Extragalactic astronomy. The topics covered are: Active Galactic Nuclei, Clusters of Galaxies, Gamma-ray Bursts, X-ray binaries, Transients, Star formation, cataclysmic variables, Supernova Remnants, Stellar coronae, and Interstellar Medium. The hands on sessions provided the students with experience concerning online access to data and models, state-of-the-art data analysis tools and modelling techniques. Each student worked on a project with one of the lecturers/tutors. A total of 35 students participated in the workshop, 19 lecturers and 6 tutors acted as resource persons. Most of the lecturers and tutors stayed here through the full duration of the workshop. Sessions for the workshop were held in the lecture hall complex and the computer centre at IISER Mohali. The workshop was sponsored by COSPAR, ISRO-RESPOND and IISER Mohali. We also received generous support from Netweb Technologies and Canara Bank.
