11th Annual Meet and Workshop of INDEST-AICTE Consortium

The 11th Annual Meet and Workshop of the INDEST-AICTE Consortium was organized by IISER Mohali in association with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on 29 th and 30th April 2015. More than 300 library Professionals, Prof-In-Charges from Member Institutes of INDEST, AICTE Institutes , Tricity Institutes and also Publishers from India and abroad were participated in the event. The Event was successfully organized by the library under the leadership of Dr P. Visakhi, Deputy Librarian, Organizing Secretary of the event.

The two days event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Guest Prof Shevgaonkar , Chairman, National Steering Committee of INDEST-AICTE Consortium and Director, IIT Delhi in the presence of Guest of Honour Prof. M.K Surappa, Director, IIT Ropar , Prof. N. Sathyamurty, Director, IISER Mohali, Dr. Jagdish Arora, Director, INFLIBNET and Prof. B.D.Gupta, National Coordinator, INDEST- AICTE Consortium and Professor, Dept of Physics, IIT Delhi and Dr.P. Visakhi, Deputy Librarian, IISER Mohali and Organizing Secretary of event.

A short film on IISER Mohali Library Services and facilities developed by the P&V Club of (students) IISER Mohali was screened during the inaugural function. Workshop on “National Digital Library (NDL)", a Project of Min of HRD was held by NDL team from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Khargpur which was followed by technical sessions and talks on Discovery Tools, Communications of Scholarly Information, Building Productive Teams and Succession Planning, Application of WINK software in developing self-instructional tutorial for e-resources, Federated Search engines, Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) and Services Tax issues in library resources subscription. The Sessions were flavored with Product presentation by IEEE, AIP, OSA, Balani Infotech, AAAS, RemoteXs, Wiley etc., and the evening was graced with Cultural programs performed by Dept of Cultural Affairs, Min. of Haryana.


Day 2 started with a meeting of the Core Members of INDEST-AICTE Consortium. The discussion was moderated by Professor B.D. Gupta, National Coordinator for INDEST-AICTE Consortium and Dr. Neeraj Chaurasia, Deputy Librarian, IIT Delhi. Core Members meeting was followed by Two technical Sessions with invited talks on “Copyright  and Copyleft Creative Commons – License Models”, Research data management: An emerging challenges”, “Negotiation of e-Resources: Win-Win Situation”,“The Open Online Courses: The NOC”, Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) courses through Eklavya and NPTEL etc with product
presentation  by  Emerald, GeeKen furniture and Informatics India,  Bridge  People Technologies,Elsevier,, Nature Publishing Group.

During the meet, as a token of appreciation, acknowledgment and encouragement “Best User” awards, sponsored by the publishers, were presented to the institutes with highest usage of various resources like IEEE, ASME, ASCE, EBSCO etc. The Workshop ended with Panel discussion on “Raising Professional Ethics in Librarianship”. The valedictory function was graced by Hon'ble Chief Guest Prof. Arun Kumar Grover, Vice Chancellor, Punjab University, Guest of Honour Prof. Timothy Gonsalves, Director, IIT Mandi, Prof. N. Sathyamurthy, Director, IISER Mohali, Prof. B.D.Gupta, National Coordinator, INDEST-AICTE Consortium, Dr. Sudip Mandal, Chairman, Library Committee, IISER Mohali, Dr. Neeraj Chaurasia, Deputy Librarian, IIT Delhi and Dr. Kshema Prakash, Deputy Librarian, IIT Jodhpur.
