History of Chemistry in India

A History of Science Seminar on "History of Chemistry in India" held at IISER Mohali on 15, November, 2013 under the aegis of the Indian National Science Academy. Topics included the researches of Acharya PC Ray (A Chakravorthy, D Raina), the history of natural products chemistry (K Natarajan), the history of medicinal chemistry (Harkishan  Singh), the history of physical chemistry(K Bhattacharyya) and electrochemistry (AK Shukla) and the struggles of the Indian Organic Industry (AV Rama Rao). A public lecture  was also delivered on ” The interplay between the Arts and Technology in Ancient Indian Metallurgical Traditions” by S. Ranganathan, Distinguished Professor, Department of Materials Engineering, IISc, Bangalore.
