- This course will utilize multiple host-pathogen pairs (Salmonella-human/mouse,
Mycobacteria-human/mouse, HIV-human/mouse, fungus-human etc.) as models
to demonstrate the innumerable mechanisms utilized by pathogens, viral, bacterial
and fungal to subvert the host system and enhance their own survival.
- Secretion systems of bacteria: Type I, II, III, IV V, virulence gene expression,
intracellular pathogenesis
- Signalling by the bacterial components; quorum sensing, biofilm formation and
its role in pathogenesis, innate and adaptive immunity against bacterial pathogens.
- Major virulence component of pathogenic microorganism bacteria and virus.
Gene Regulation system in Bacteria especially two component system (TCS) and
CRISPR-cas system in bacteria.
- Different type of fungal diseases caused by true (Histoplasma and
Paracoccidioides)and opportunistic fungal pathogens (Cryptococcus, Candidia
etc.,) and the mechanism of the infection and host damages and responses.
